Silver Ragwort - Jacobaea maritima

This is one of many cultivated plants that escapes into the wild and persists, at least for a time. These cultivated plants may have many different varieties or cultivars, and hybridisation is common so appearance may be quite variable, but typically This species has silver foliage and yellow daisy-like flowers.

Densely covered in white woolly hairs, felted beneath and cottony above.

Usually found as an escape from cultivation.

Flowering around June or July.

Occasional escapee which is quite widespread in Britain.

Infrequent or under recorded as an escape from cultivation in Leicestershire and Rutland. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
