Poplar Kitten - Furcula bifida
Wingspan 35 to 45 mm. Quite similar in appearance to Sallow Kitten, this species is however usually larger, and the outer edge of the grey wing bar is more smoothly curved.
Around the larval foodplant.
Late April to July.
The larval foodplants are usually Poplars including Aspen, though sometimes Willow is used.
Occurs mostly in southern England and Wales, and scarce in Ireland. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.
Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
