Matt Bolete - Boletus pruinatus
Cap is 4 to 10 cm, chestnut or dark red-brown and slightly scurfy. The stem is yellow and covered in minute red dots. The flesh in cap and stem is bright yellow when cut, in striking contrast with the reddish surface colours. The tubes are lemon yellow.
Mixed woodland, associating with beech and other broad-leaved trees.
July to November.
Widespread in Britain, but not particularly common.
Fairly common in Charnwood but seldom recorded in the east.
