Strophedra nitidana
A small species, with a wingspan of only 9 or 10 mm. The wings are dark brown with white costal strigulae and other markings.
This is a rare species in our area. Please provide good close up photograph and indicate size (wingspan). If possible, please retain the specimen until your record has been verified.
Well wooded areas where Oak is present.
Flies during May and June.
The larva feeds on Oak. It will spin leaves together and feed within.
A rather infrequent and local moth in Britain. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.
Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
