Jelly Ear Fungus

The NatureSpot Photo of the Month for December is this image of Jelly Ear Fungus, taken by NatureSpot contributor Chris Tivey. More...

Are you, like this Jelly Ear Fungus, Auricularia auricula-judae, feeling a bit wilted and wrinkly? We've reached the end of the main fungus season (although of course fungi can be found all year round), but a new year beckons. Jelly Ear Fungus grows on a range of deciduous trees and shrubs, although it favours Elder (Sambucus nigra) and is quite common, so you should be able to find some when you're out on your New Year's Day walk.

You don't need a fancy camera to take good photos - the best camera is the one you have with you, but read our Photography Help page: https://www.naturespot.org.uk/photography
