Candelabra Coral, Artomyces pyxidatus, is a distinctive coral fungus which grows on grows on dead hardwoods. Only rediscovered in the UK in 2011 after a gap of 115 years, they have been found in Kent, Sussex and the New Forest - and now in Leicestershire!
Although it is easy to mistake this species for other coral fungi, it can be successfully identified from detailed photos, so please keep an eye out to look for more spoecimens, and submit your records to NatureSpot for expert confirmation.
