The NatureSpot Photo of the Month for August is this image of a Jersey Tiger moth, taken by NatureSpot contributor Pete Leonard. More...
August has been a good month for moths. The Jersey Tiger, Euplagia quadripunctaria, is a distinctive and spectacular moth which has been spreading from the south of England for some years, finally arriving in Leicestershire in 2023. August 2025 has seen records of this lovely moth for several lucky moth recorders. These moths may still be around for another month, and often fly in the daytime as well as at night, so please keep your eyes open.
