Getting There

From the A1, exit westwards on Broadgate Lane towards South Witham, and turn left from the High Street onto Thistleton Lane. Follow the road around into Thistleton, turn left at the fork onto Witham Road, and the track is on the left.

Description

Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2005, the verge is located on the track running up to the entrance to Cottesmore Airfield by Thistleton village, and is 394 metres in length. The main habitat is mesotrophic grassland.

Wildlife Highlights

Recorded species include: Agrimony, Spiked Sedge, Lady's Bedstraw, Field Scabious, Meadow Vetchling, Common Bird's-foot-trefoil, Meadow Buttercup, Bulbous Buttercup, Common Sorrel, Red Clover,  and Greater Knapweed.
