Getting There

Ketton St Mary the Virgin church is located to the east of the viillage on Church Road, next to The Railway Inn. The River Chater passes very close by. The two closest main roads are the A1 and A43.

From the A1, exit onto Stamford Road heading West, and follow into the village as it becomes Hight Street. Turn left onto Church Road. From the A43, turn off onto Ketton Road (leading north) in Collyweston. This road can essentially be followed all the way to the church (it becomes Geeston Road, then Station Road, and finally Church Road).

Some roadside parking is available, but please be mindful of residents.

Two bus routes service Ketton: 4R (CallConnect) and 12 (Centrebus). The nearest bus stop in around the corner on the High Street. Be sure to check the routes and stops before travelling.

Description

The village of Ketton lies to the southeast of Rutlant Water, with the River Chater running through it. St Mary the Virgin church is quite spectacular for its spire, and boasts a large churchyard, some of which was removed when the adjacent road was widened, yet still contains many trees and areas to explore.

The records and images below may include those from adjacent sites if the grid reference submitted with these records overlaps the boundary of this Wild Place.
