Description
This attractive 6 hectare wood was planted in 1991 on the site of the former 'Bug and Wink' colliery. It is well maintained by the Coleorton and New Lount Volunteers. Picnic benches and seats are scattered through the site. It is popular with local dog walkers. There are good footpaths to and from the surrounding countryside.
Wildlife Highlights

There are more than 30 species of trees supporting a healthy population of small birds and mammals. A great diversity of fungi are of special note - the Leicestershire Fungus Study Group recorded 70 species there on a foray in 2011. The New Lount volunteer group has also run bat walks.. The wood also supports an interesting bryophyte flora.
